It is the type of dentistry which deals with the diagnosis and treatment of disorders in the dental pulp, tooth root and surrounding tissues. Endodontic treatment is done to save the teeth from diseased dental pulp. It also deals with periradicular tissues. It is concerned with the treatment of root amputation and pulp therapy such as pulp capping and treatment procedures can be carried out by means of cores involving the space in root canal. Endodontists perform a variety of procedures including endodontic therapy, endodontic retreatment, surgery, treating cracked teeth, and treating dental trauma.
