Founded in 1995, the IUHW aims to produce educated and skilled professionals in the field of health and welfare. IUHW tries that the students graduating from the university work for welfare of citizens of Japan as well as other countries. In this endeavor, IUHW admits a large number of overseas students each year, so that all the students cooperate with each other and learn about the culture of different countries and societies. IUHW invited applications from Asian students for the Scholarship program to study at IUHW begined in April 2012. The purpose of the program is to enable the recipients to pursue their studies in the field of health care and welfare service and to grow into the leaders who can make significant contributors to the promotion of the world health and welfare. Its study includes four year for undergraduate students; two years for graduate students in master’s Programs and three years for graduate students in Doctoral Programs (Starting from April 2012) It is accredited by Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology, Japan. In april 2013 there was Opening of the Program in Integrated Care for Advanced Cancer Treatment (Nurse, Clinical Radiologist, Pharmacist) at the graduate school based on the "Plan for Strengthening the Foundation of the Development of Cancer Professionals" of the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology of Japan.
