Biography

Dr. Boham joined New Mexico State University as Director the Athletic Training Education Program after completing her Ed.D. from Boise State University in 2009. Since her arrival she has served on several department and college committees, including being elected to faculty senate. Since Dr. Boham’s arrival, the Athletic Training Education Program at New Mexico State University went through a rigorous Commission on Accreditation of Athletic Training Education (CAATE) accreditation site visit and the program had zero citations and was granted a prestigious 10 year reaccreditation certificate. Prior to working on her Ed.D., she taught multiple classes at Boise State University while obtaining her Master’s of Science in Exercise and Sports Science with a Biophysical emphasis. During her time at Boise State, she assisted with the accreditation process of the ATEP which also was granted a 10 year reaccreditation cycle. Dr. Boham’s research interests center around her educational and professional experience in the field of athletic training. The physiological responses to injury and rehabilitation techniques have been the focus of her research interests. Injury predisposition and reduction has been a primary focus for an athletic population. In addition, the target population of her early research has included an adolescent athletic population, which remains a relatively understudied population who present unique complications with an injury process. Since Dr. Boham’s arrival at NMSU, she has been working on research with the NMSU rodeo team in the efforts to prevent head injuries.
