Biography

Dr. Roohani is a National Health and Medical Research Council Early Career Fellow, awarded his PhD in 2014 (in Biomedical Engineering, Biomaterials and Tissue Engineering from University of Sydney). He has already made significant contributions to the field of biomaterials and tissue engineering. He has published 40 articles in leading international peer-reviewed journals, with 700 citations (h-index: 15), as well as 2 book chapters. He has invited and presented more than 40 national and international conference papers, and has won several national and international awards. Including, NH&MRC Peter Doherty Biomedical Early Career Research Fellowship, Dean’s Research Award in University of Sydney, Tissue Engineering Young Investigator Council in USA, SYIS Outstanding Award in Tissue Engineering and Regenerative Medicine in South Korea, Research Excellence Award for outstanding PhD research achievement and Sydnovate 1st Award in Excellence in Innovation in Research for 2 consecutive years from University of Sydney. Dr Roohani has led a number of research projects with innovatory translational outputs, as shown by 3 registered patents on which he is the main inventor. One of these inventions, a novel bioceramic, is now being commercialised by Australia’s largest orthopaedics company, Allegra.
