Pediatric nutrition is the maintenance of a proper well-balanced diet consisting of the essential nutrients and the adequate caloric intake necessary to promote growth and sustain the physiologic requirements at the various stages of a child development. Pediatric nutrition includes the nutritional needs of infants, children, and adolescents. Pediatric nutrition is nutrition for children from infancy up through 18 years of age. Due to lack of nutrition especially during critical periods of growth, results in improper development or illness, such as anemia from deficiency of iron or scurvy from deficiency of vitamin C. Nutrition plays a major role in childhood development, for good or ill. Proper nutrition helps for proper growth and development of children and enabling them to reach their full potential.
