Desipramine, a tricyclic antidepressant, is used for depression particularly related to post traumatic stress disorder. The use of the drug escalates the possibility of an overdose. The purpose of this study was to determine the survivability of swine that have a cardiac arrest from an overdose of desipramine. This was the first study to investigate the effects of vasopressin vs. epinephrine in the treatment of cardiac arrest following an overdose of desipramine.
