The Journal is using Editorial Tracking System for maintaining quality review process. Editorial Tracking is an online manuscript submission, review and tracking system. Review process is performed by the editorial board members of Journal of Traumatic Stress Disorders & Treatment or outside experts; the validation by at least two independent reviewers followed by the editor’s approval is required for the acceptance of any citable manuscript for publication in the Journal. Authors may submit manuscripts and track its progress through the system, hopefully to publication. Reviewers can download manuscripts and submit their opinions to the editor in the Editorial Tracking System. Editors can manage the entire submission/review/revision/publication process.
2016 Journal Impact Factor is the ratio of the number of citations achieved in the year 2016 based on Google Search and Google Scholar Citations to the total number of articles published in the last two years i.e. in 2014 and 2015. Impact factor measures the quality of the Journal.
If ‘X’ is the total number of articles published in 2014 and 2015, and ‘Y’ is the number of times these articles were cited in indexed journals during 2016 then, impact factor = Y/X.
Trauma
Trauma is a very difficult or unpleasant experience that causes someone to have mental or emotional problems usually for a long time. Some types of traumatic events involves experiencing a serious injury to yourself or witnessing a serious injury to or the death of someone else, facing imminent threats of serious injury or death to yourself or others, or experiencing a violation of personal physical integrity.
Traumatic Stress
Traumatic stress is an anxiety disorder that develops in some individuals who have had major traumatic experiences. The person is typically numb at first but later has symptoms including depression, excessive irritability, guilt (for having survived while others died), recurrent nightmares, flashbacks to the traumatic scene, and overreactions to sudden noises.
Anxiety
Anxiety is a normal human emotion that everyone experiences at times. It is a state of intense apprehension, uncertainty, and fear resulting from the anticipation of a threatening event or situation, often to a degree that normal physical and psychological functioning is disrupted.
Depression
Depression is an illness that involves the body, mood, and thoughts and that affects the way a person eats, sleeps, feels about himself or herself, and thinks about things. The signs and symptoms of depression include loss of interest in activities that were once interesting or enjoyable.
DSM - IV
Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders – Fourth edition is the American Psychiatric Association's official manual of mental disorders and provides detailed descriptions of categories of disorders as well as diagnostic criteria.
Mental Health Professionals use this manual when working with patients in order to better understand their illness and potential treatment and to help 3rd party payers (e.g., insurance) understand the needs of the patient
Sexual Trauma
Sexual Trauma is intentional sexual contact characterized by use of force, physical threat or abuse of authority or when the victim does not consent. Sexual trauma is a common cause for post-tramatic stress disorder and dissociative disorders.
Traumatic Events
The person experienced, witnessed, or was confronted with an event where there was the threat of or actual death or serious injury. The event may also have involved a threat to the person's physical well-being or the physical well-being of another person. Traumatic events also known as Traumatic experience, Psychological trauma.
Psychotherapy
Psychotherapy is a process focused on helping you heal and learn more constructive ways to deal with the problems or issues within your life. It can also be a supportive process when going through a difficult period or under increased stress. Psychotherapy is also known as talk therapy.
Antidepressants
Antidepressants are the drugs used to treat person suffering from mental depression. They work to balance some of the natural chemicals in our brains. Antidepressants may cause mild side effects that usually do not last long. These may include headache, nausea, sleep problems, restlessness, and sexual problems.
Alcohol and Drug Abuse
The use and misuse of alcohol and other drugs is one of the more controversial issues in our society.Use of alcoholic beverages to excess, either on individual occasions (binge drinking) or as a regular practice. Drug abuse is the recurrent use of illegal drugs, or the misuse of prescription or over-the-counter drugs with negative consequences.
Domestic Violence
Domestic Violence is a learned pattern of physical, verbal, sexual and/or emotional behaviors in which one person in a relationship uses force and intimidation to dominate or control the other person. The partners may be married or not married; heterosexual, gay or lesbian; living together, separated or dating. Domestic Violence occurs in all ages, races, genders and social classes.
Psychological Resilience
Psychological resilience refers to an individual's capacity to withstand stressors and not manifest psychology dysfunction, such as mental illness or persistent negative mood. Psychological stressors or "risk factors" are often considered to be experiences of major acute or chronic stress such as death of someone else, chronic illness sexual fear etc.
Behavioural Therapy
Behavioural therapy is a form of psychological treatment. In behavioral therapy, the goal is to reinforce desirable behaviors and eliminate unwanted or maladaptive ones. The techniques used in this type of treatment are based on the theories of classical conditioning and operant conditioning.
Stress Disorder
The anxiety and behavioral disturbances that develop within a month of exposure to extreme trauma. The symptoms of an acute stress disorder usually begin during or shortly following the trauma. The extreme traumatic events include physical assault, rape, accidents etc.
Psychiatric Disorders
Psychiatric disorder means a mental disorder or illness that interferes with the way a person behaves, interacts with others, and functions in daily life. The Diagnostic and Statistical Manual (DSM) of Mental Disorders, published by the American Psychiatric Association, classifies psychiatric disorders.
Traumatic Stress Disorder
Traumatic Stress Disorder is an emotional illness that that is classified as an anxiety disorder and usually develops as a result of a terribly frightening, life-threatening, or otherwise highly unsafe experience. The sufferers of this disorder may re experience the traumatic events when they come across with the places or people or some incidents.
Mental Disorder
Mental disorder is characterized chiefly by abnormal behavior or an inability to function socially, including diseases of the mind and personality and certain diseases of the brain. It is also known as mental illness or mental disease.There are many causes of mental disorders. Your genes and family history may play a role. Your life experiences, such as stress or a history of abuse, may also matter. Biological factors can also be part of the cause.
Anxiety Disorders
Anxiety disorder is a chronic condition characterized by an excessive and persistent sense of apprehension, with physical symptoms such as sweating, palpitations, and feelings of stress. Anxiety disorders are partly genetic but may also be due to drug use including alcohol and caffeine, as well as withdrawal from certain drugs.
Adjustment Disorders
Adjustment disorder is a group of symptoms, such as stress, feeling sad or hopeless, and physical symptoms that can occur after you go through a stressful life event. The reaction is more severe than would normally be expected, and can result in significant impairment in social, occupational or academic functioning. An adjustment disorder/stress response syndrome is not the same as post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD).
Post Traumatic Stress Disorder
Post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) is a debilitating psychological condition triggered by a major traumatic event such as accident or loss of beloved person etc. It is marked by upsetting memories and some severe personality changes.
